About the Job:
This is a retail “do it all” job. The successful candidate will help visitors have the best imaginable experience inside the shop, educate and assist on product selection and project work, interface with the Point-of-Sale and Inventory systems, receive products and materials, assist with stocking, help keep the shop tidy, feed/nurture our resident plants, work with visitors on projects, host parties, and express your creativity in merchandising and display. As visitors opt to become customers, this position is responsible for completing sales transactions. This is a part-time position (12-20 hours/week) and at least one weekend shift will be required. Shifts are 4-5 hours per day in a Thursday – Saturday or Sunday – Tuesday combination. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications and there are other perks associated with the role as well.
You are personable, curious, helpful, willing, and have a sense of humor. You understand that providing the best experience possible to our visitors is the job and are willing to go above and beyond to provide it. You have at least one of the following characteristics: Education or demonstrated achievement in science, art, nature, or technology; and/or 2 years minimum experience in specialty retail. You might even like to let “your geek flag fly” from time to time. You are legally able to work in the US and have references.
