Pumpkin Festival 2013

Pie Eating Contest at Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival

October 19th and 20th mark the 43rd annual Pumpkin Festival in beautiful Half Moon Bay, California. What does this mean practically? About 200,000 of our closest friends descend upon our little slice of heaven to have a great time. Main Street is closed between Stone Pine Road and Monte Vista from Friday night until late Sunday night. The festival runs from 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. All of the event logistics are available here.

This year the whole shop will be open, yay! We will be applying glitter tattoos in hundreds of different styles, shapes, and colors. These tattoos aren’t permanent, but do have staying power for 1-2 weeks. In addition, we’ll have our usual assortment of nature, science, art, and weird stuff during festival hours. We’ve got some special terrarium kits assembled just for the event (get them early before they’re gone) and we’ll have an in-store only special on our Pirate Flags – Arrrrrrrrr!

If you choose to brave the crowds, we’d love to see you. Our pro tip from us to you is: avoid highway 92 at all costs. If you’re coming from San Jose, we advise taking highway 84 west to highway 1 north and accessing the festival from the south end of town. If you’re coming from San Francisco, we advise taking 280 south to highway 1 south and accessing the festival from the north end of town. In neither case should you plan on trying to cross the highway 92 and highway 1 intersection. If you come in from the south, stay south of that point and if from the north, stay north!

Drop by, say hi, have some fun at Oddyssea!
