The shop was established in February, 2012 by Mike & Ellen Harding, residents of the San Mateo Coast since 1999. While both principals have long and varied experience, this is their first foray into the retail world.

Oddyssea is designed to be an interactive retail experience.

The best way to understand what that means is to visit the shop. We have hands-on products and projects that are not commonly available in other locales. Take a trip out to the San Mateo Coast and enjoy all that Half Moon Bay has to offer!

Any shop is more than its founders though and that’s especially true of Oddyssea. Our team includes Sabrina Muscat, resident artist; Wendy Davenport, jewelry artisan; Mary Corradini, musician; Clay Ronk, artist, Elle Janoe, scientist in training, Bryana Britts, educator, and Shelly Schabinger, scientist in training.

We were also helped out greatly by Oddyssea alums: Kaila Wood aka the “gardener,” Mitchell Johnson, the film maker, Angie Stevenson, biologist, Claire Fulmer, taxidermist/adventuress, Nicole Clary, scientist in training, Shelby Hartness, photographer, and Matt Harding, the “bouncer chanteur.”

A word about our animal products, we are committed to sourcing specimens ethically and legally. We are compliant with CITES and US/California Endangered & Threatened Species Acts. Ethically, we procure our specimens from suppliers who maintain the highest standards in animal/insect treatment with periodic inspection and review.
